Flexible, but a lot to manage, even with something like Vault.

I've also seen all drawings in one file. Which can get unwieldy if a drawing set gets big. I don't like dealing with a 30MB drawing file if I can avoid it.

My personal preference is having a drawing set for a sub-assembly. IMHO, the best of both worlds.

With respect to changing the model reference, the most common workflow I've seen for this when files are being copied in Windows Explorer.

You can correct the references to ensure your referencing the correct model file. This is the case where it's pretty typical that you would be changing all the views.

But there are always exceptions.

Perhaps is time to jump over to the ADSK forum. :-)Jonathan Landeroshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06199133267550586672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30982613.post-89658600546954973742010-09-16T09:25:27.410-07:002010-09-16T09:25:27.410-07:00I have opened the discussion on the autodesk forum...I have opened the discussion on the autodesk forum of Inventor.
The answer was : "why are you using multisheet drawings"
And I check into the API, you cannot make the difference of the referenced file, I mean that you can access the referenced file of a view, the referenced file is on the drawing itself, not the sheet, so changing the referenced file of a view will update all views into the document with the same referenced file...
Conclusion : I have to ask Autodesk what the right workflow to use drawings...Guillaume MASSARThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05890522039093045689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30982613.post-1104875527746230882010-09-15T08:58:48.475-07:002010-09-15T08:58:48.475-07:00www.mcadforums.com/ is definitely a great forum. ...www.mcadforums.com/ is definitely a great forum.

I use the AUGI wishlist because I know it gets submitted to Autodesk.

I'm not aware if MCADForums does or not (that's purely my ignorance). :-)

The important part is that Autodesk hear your wish, no matter what vehicle you use!Jonathan Landeroshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06199133267550586672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30982613.post-12526347929172969132010-09-15T04:22:38.999-07:002010-09-15T04:22:38.999-07:00On the MCAD FORUM there are plenty of things claim...On the MCAD FORUM there are plenty of things claimed by people :)
The list is bigger than the AUGI one and more described :)Guillaume MASSARThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05890522039093045689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30982613.post-20315591122966832842010-09-14T23:09:18.445-07:002010-09-14T23:09:18.445-07:00Piou2fois, you are correct.
